I t looks
like the Homeschool SportsNet will soon offer membership with benefits in the near future. In the past, we
didn't think it was right to ask for memberships without provding benefits in return. This may all change soon as HSPN is very close
to being able offer its members two benefits.
Homeschool Sports Insurance (liability and medical) could become a reality for HSPN members. This will probably be at the team or
organizational level. A team would simply pay a very nominal fee to become a HSPN member - entitling that team to buy the homeschool
sports insurance through the Speciality Insurance Group. This works like AAU or other national organizations.
The second benefit is for homeschool families period - whether involved with sports or not. This is a Dental/Medical benefit not an
insurance policy from AmeriPlan USA. We're talking 19.95 a month for Dental/Vision benefits and 59.95 a month for Medical and Dental
benefits for the entire household. In addition, AmeriPlan returns a rebate back to HSPN when any of its members join this plan. Here is
brief introductory from Sam Kniseley (homeschool dad) who is offering this to homeschool families:
" As I mentioned, we are a homeschool family in Florida and are joining forces with homeschool organizations all across America to
offer our Discount Dental Benefits Program, as a way to stretch families' dollars (including orthodontics)! We're currently working
with groups such as Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) and the Florida Parent Educators Association (FPEA). Our Dental Plan
is value added benefit. I'd like to offer you that same opportunity to raise funds by donating back to [HSPN] for each family that
enrolls with AmeriPlan USA as a result of your newsletters, emails, website, etc. This is our way of giving back to the associations
that have been helping homeschoolers like us! We have over 30,000 directly contracted, certified dental providers in our proprietary
network. You may search for providers in different areas of the country at http://providersearch.ameriplanusa.com.

From the Mailbag:
Washington... There's no sports activities listed
for the state of Washington? Are there none?
Thanks Patti
Florida...
I'm a parent of baseball players on a member team of the
Homeschool World Series Assoc. (www.hwsa.net). If you check out this
site, you'll notice the latest outstanding news for homeschool
varsity baseball. A former homeschool player from the Atlanta
South Christian Knights was recently drafted, 10th round 2005 MLB
draft, by the Minnesota Twins. And a first-ever homeschool showcase
team was formed via a tryout/evaluation with Pendleton Baseball
organization (www.pendletonbaseball.com) following the 2005 World
Series (Atlanta, GA). The team was invited to a Pendleton World
Championship, 18&under wood bat tournament in Winter Haven, FL.
Two of my sons made the team and we just returned, winning the
Silver Bracket championship trophy! The players met in FL, coming
from all over the southeast US, for the first of only 2 practices
together on Sunday evening, July 3rd. The tournament concluded on
Friday (trying to finish before "Dennis" hit), the final Gold
Bracket championship being televised by Fox Sports Net (FL). The
"Homeschool Stars" had a photo op on the Cleveland Indians training
camp stadium field where they'd just won their final game, 4-1.
Photos are forthcoming soon---I can send the photos or links as soon
as I get them.
This was another great opportunity for homeschool sports and our
varsity-level athletes! Sincerely, Mrs. Vonda Carney
